I started Lucy and Steve’s big day with Lucy and her bridesmaids, all getting ready in different rooms of the house. I found a very very calm bride getting ready, having a nice easy going morning…it didn’t last too long though! As soon as the dress went on the reality hit and the nerves started to kick in. Meanwhile, just a few minutes away, the groom was getting ready with the rest of the groomsmen and soon heading to the pub.
The church was a lovely little church with lots of light coming through the amazing stained glass windows, perfect for wedding photography! The ceremony was perfect and personal. It really reflected the couple beautifully and I’m sure everyone in the congregation really felt the love that day.
As soon as the ceremony was finished we popped outside for a few group shots, a couple of photos of the newlyweds and then we drove just up the road to Stapleford Abbots Golf Club and went straight into the rest of the couples shots. It was a super hot day, so to stop the bride and groom from turning into a puddle of water we didn’t stay out for too long. We headed back to the wedding party and made our way inside for dinner.
The speeches were genuinely touching, funny and very personal. There were a lot of tears and a lot of laughter and their chosen words were pretty perfect. Fairly soon it was the cake cut, Father/Daughter dance and then the couples first dance.
The dance floor was soon full, the buffet was being devoured and me and the happy couple popped outside for one or two more shots in the dark. I really love these photos and I’m so grateful to Lucy and Steve for coming out and letting me try some new ideas. These two deserve every happiness and really are two of my favourite people I’ve met in my years photographing weddings, big congrats to you both guys!
