The Roslin Beach Hotel: Keely & Roy
15 June 2017
I headed down to sunny Southend for Keely and Roy’s big day at the lovely Roslin Hotel. The sun was out in full force and spirits were high as Keely got ready surrounded by her friends and family. Lots of laughter and one nearly lethal champagne cork incident later, and Keely was getting into her dress…
Guests were arriving downstairs rapidly and were soon ushered into the ceremony room. I love the room at the Roslin Beach Hotel as there is so much light in there! It makes my job so much easier and makes for such great shots. Soon Roy took his place at the front and waited for his bride-to-be to come downstairs.
Keely was on her way. All the guests were in their seats. Bridesmaids, ushers and everyone else were in place. All that was left was to get married!
The ceremony went without a hitch and it was full of laughter, just how the bride and groom (mainly the groom!) wanted it. It was soon over though and the newlyweds were all smiles! After a little bit of mingling and lots of ‘congratulations’ being passed on to the happy couple, it was over to the beach for group shots and couple shots! It’s always nice for the couple to have a bit of time just to themselves in the couple shots…even if I am tagging along with my camera too. It’s nice for them to get away from the crowds for a short time, just to have a bit of time to themselves on their wedding day.
Everyone was soon seated for the wedding breakfast, but there was no stopping these party people! They were up and dancing before the second course had even been brought out! I knew right then that I was going to have a great evening with these people. The speeches came around next and they left everyone grinning from ear to ear and wiping tears from their cheeks.
After running back outside for a few more shots as the sun started to go down over Southend beach, it was the time everyone had been desperate for….party time! Out came the DJ, the Motown singer, the saxophonist and the bongo player! (Yes, you read that right!), and everyone rushed to the dance floor. It was an amazing evening of dancing and laughter. At some weddings there is often the awkward first 10-20 minutes where only one or two people are brave enough to get up and dance…well not at this wedding! You couldn’t keep these people away!
We had to make room soon though for the newlyweds to have their first dance and cut the cake, but it didn’t take long for everyone to join in with Keely and Roy again.
I love being an Essex wedding photographer and having Southend just up the road to me, the backdrop to the photos is beautiful.
It was a great day in Southend, not to mention sooooo hot! I had a ball with these guys and their guests! Congrats!!
